In May of 2019, one of our largest and most substantial productions to date (in all senses of the phrase) came to life on Liberty Island. As a team, we worked on every inch of the opening event for the Statue of Liberty Museum; breathing existence into this new and iconic landmark for New York City.
The Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island Foundation is dedicated to the iconic, national treasure and most recognizable figure around the globe – the Statue of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty Museum represents an exciting new chapter in Lady Liberty’s story of freedom. The museum gives millions more an opportunity to enjoy the Statue of Liberty experience whilst addressing the three main components of accessibility, education and sustainability.
Our mission alongside the client was to present the never before seen Statue of Liberty Museum to a star-studded audience featuring Seth Meyers as the host, musical performances by Gloria Estefan and Tony Bennett, and keynote speaker Oprah Winfrey. The audience boasted some notable celebrities including Hillary Clinton, Jeff Bezos, Andy Cohen, David Letterman, and Diane von Furstenberg.
We utilized the 360 Oxygen experience of sound, lighting, video, staging PLUS design and engineering. These elements combined provided a world class production, allowing patrons to enjoy a multi-acre celebration with something at every walk of the show.
The opening of the Liberty Island Museum will not only go down in Oxygen’s history but in the history of New York City. We spent over a year working on this project and were the sole AV vendor for the entire production, making the event a truly spectacular occasion.
